Trench Metals Corp. has the right to buy a 100% interest in the Gorilla Lake Uranium Project. This is a project that is located in the Cluff Lake area of Saskatchewan’s Athabasca Uranium district. The Athabasca District is known for having some of the highest-quality uranium deposits in the world. 18% of global uranium production comes from this area, and it includes famous mines like McArthur River and Cigar Lake. The Gorilla Lake Project is made up of nearly 7000 hectares near the Shea Creek uranium deposit in the Northern Mining District of Saskatchewan.

Gorilla Lake Uranium Project

Our Gorilla Lake project is a great opportunity. It is in the heart of the Athabasca Basin which is a really good place for uranium mining. The area has a lot of infrastructure and two of the biggest uranium mines in Canada are close by. This makes it perfect for exploration and development.

Uranium exploration in the Gorilla Lake area started in the late 1950s and has continued until today. There have been two main periods of work: the first was when they found the Cluff Lake Deposits in the early to mid 70s, and the second phase is from 2004 to present day.

During this second phase of work, uranium mineralization was found in drill holes CLU-01 and CLU-07. This mineralization is associated with a structure that has not been tested yet. The structure is 700 metres long, so there is potential for more uranium to be found. Additionally, the basement in this area has been overturned. This means that the uranium could be found near the surface, on top of the sandstone.

In 2005, Fugro Airborne Surveys completed a survey over the Cluff Lake area. This survey included the Gorilla Lake Property. In 2016, a gravity survey was carried out in the northern portion of the Gorilla Lake Property. This gravity survey identified two significant gravity anomalies to the east and west of Gorilla Lake and confirmed a third geophysical anomaly approximately 1500 metres south of Gorilla Lake.

Trench Metals has announced that a field team will be going to Gorilla Lake to investigate the findings further.

Higginson Lake Uranium Project

The Higginson Lake Uranium Project is a really cool project that is located in Athabasca, Saskatchewan. It is 52 kilometers northeast of the town of Stony Rapids and it is accessible by Highway 905 and 964. The project has an area of approximately 2312 hectares and it adjoins claims which have historic uranium reserves. The Higginson Lake Uranium Project also hosts two historic drill indicated reserves, totaling 4,800,000 lbs of U308.

The mineralization at Higginson Lake is thought to be controlled by the Black Lake Fault. This is a regional fault that goes through the Athabasca Basin. There have been twelve showings found in this area. One of these showings is called the Corrigan Lake Showing. It is located 389m north of Corrigan Lake and it was explored by trenching and diamond drilling. The company that did this drilling found that there was a reserve of 2,000,000 tons with a grade of greater than 0.1% U3O8 or 4,400,000lbs U3O8.
